Boy Scout Graphic Arts Merit Badge Workshop

September 12, October 10

You are invited to a once-in-a-lifetime chance to earn the Graphic Arts merit badge using the 600-year-old letterpress printing process. With minimal advanced preparations, you will be able to leave at the end of the night with the merit badge complete. The workshops are scheduled for March 13, April 10, May 8, September 11 and October 9.

Book Arts Center & Letterpress Studio Renovation

Every Tuesday, 9am – 3pm

Thaddeus Stevens has given us a building on campus to use as a letterpress studio. The old Naval Reserve building on Parkside Avenue built during the Korean War has no insulation or lighting and the windows are metal framed single pane. The renovations to the building will include a HVAC system, energy efficient replacement windows, wall insulation, wall treatment and lighting. JK Mechanical of Willow Street has donated and installed a high efficiency Carrier gas fired furnace and air conditioning system. No internal structural changes will be needed since an open floor plan is most desirable for the center. Your help is needed as we as we prepare this building for our club to use as a training facility as well as offering open shop time for qualified members. Presently help is needed in cleaning the leftovers out of the buiulding.
